Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about security, encryption, and how pay period budgeting works.

Security & Encryption

Is my data encrypted?

Yes. All your financial data (balances, bills, debts) is encrypted using AES-256-GCM encryption before it leaves your device. The encryption key is derived from your password, meaning only you can decrypt your data.

Who can see my financial data?

Only you. Your data is encrypted with a key derived from your password before being stored. Even our team cannot access your financial information — we only see encrypted data that is meaningless without your password or recovery key.

What is the recovery key?

When you set up your account, we generate a unique recovery key — a long string of characters that acts as a backup to your encryption. This key is shown only once during setup. If you ever forget your password, this recovery key is the only way to regain access to your encrypted financial data.

What happens if I forget my password?

If you forget your password but have your recovery key saved, you can use the recovery process to set a new password and regain access to your data. If you've lost both your password and recovery key, your data cannot be recovered — this is by design to ensure maximum security.

How do I use my recovery key?

1. Go to the login page and sign in with your email/password. 2. When the unlock prompt appears, click 'Use Recovery Key'. 3. Enter your recovery key and choose a new password. 4. Your data will be re-encrypted with your new password.

Where should I store my recovery key?

Store your recovery key somewhere secure and separate from your password. Good options include a password manager, a secure note, or printed and stored in a safe place. Never share your recovery key with anyone.

General

How does pay period budgeting work?

Instead of monthly budgeting, we organize your finances around your pay periods (1st-14th and 15th-end of month). This helps you see exactly what bills are due before your next paycheck and how much cash is available to spend.

Do I need to enter every transaction?

No. Unlike traditional budgeting apps, you only need to update your bank balance and mark bills as paid when they clear. This simple approach saves time while still giving you a clear picture of your finances.

Can I share my account with my partner?

Yes. Joint account sharing allows you to invite a partner or family member to collaborate on budgeting together, with per-category view-only or full-edit permissions.

What's the difference between 'paid' and 'posted'?

'Paid' means you've initiated the payment. 'Posted' means the payment has cleared your bank account. This distinction helps you track exactly what's already been deducted from your balance.

Billing & Account

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes, you can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Your access will continue until the end of your billing period.

What happens when my trial ends?

After your 14-day free trial, you'll be asked to subscribe to continue using the app. Your data is never deleted — you can subscribe at any time to pick up where you left off.

Do you offer refunds?

We offer a full refund within 7 days of your first subscription payment if you're not satisfied.
